Z – Names of Krishna

Note on names that start with Z – the letter “z” is not part of the traditional Sanskrit alphabet. The Sanskrit script (Devanagari) has its own set of sounds and letters, but “z” is not one of them. While some Sanskrit words may be transliterated using “z” in modern languages, it doesn’t appear in the original Sanskrit phonetics. The closest sound is often represented by the letter “ज” (ja), but “z” itself is not used in the Sanskrit alphabet. So if you want a Z name, the closest could be J names, like Jagganath.

So, why are we gathering all these wonderful names of our dear Krishna?

Well, for starters, they can be a great source of inspiration when naming our children or pets. Even reading for pleasure, each name is a window into Krishna’s divine nature, a glimpse into his infinite love, playfulness, and power. And let’s not forget the beautiful names of his eternal consort, Shri Radha. I’m excited to share that list with you soon!

Particularly interesting to me is that when I am working on new deities of Krishna, I love to think about His MOOD and what name best suits the way He is appearing in that form, ready to be worshipped.

Krishna Deity Look Book – Marble murti

Krishna deity Radharani Krishna stormy blue grey skin against a forest backdround. Krishna wears peacock feather in crown and is dressed in red with pearl bracelets

Discover a vibrant collection of Krishna deity forms, exploring diverse styles, looks, moods, and details for inspiration in your spiritual practice.

After years of working on different Krishna forms, so many different looks and moods, it might be nice to have a bit of a retrospective, with different Krishna forms, collected here.

When you are looking for ideas for different details like Krishna deity hands feet paintwork etc, we all need a little inspiration. I hope that you will enjoy the delightful and varied moods of Krishna deities here. (Not an exhaustive list!)

Overall, I tend to try and recreate the look of Krishna as a dark rain cloud, although sometimes His hue is more lit by moonlight, or as lightened by a ray of radiant sunshine.

So much variety of mood and love. One thing for sure is that worshipping a form of Krishna is a wonderful addition to your life and Sadhana Bhakti.

But wait! Explore the glorious forms of Krishna’s look when He’ s in the dark Syamasundar mood! Black and stormy dark, I love it best when His blackish skin looks like a galaxy, with glorious sparkles in the marble comprising the skin.

Different forms in black marble I have made and also black metal include the following forms with most beautiful stylish black complexion on our dear Krishna.

This list definately needs updating, as it does not include so many of the beautiful KRishna deity looks I have created for you!

Given how hard it is to choose a form of the Lord Shri Krishna to worship in deity form, how baffling it is to chose the deity look you want to see, what on earth did I choose when I gave my heart to KRishna deity form for my at home ishtadev?

He wears a peacock feather in his hair and a garland of lotus buds like ginger flowers. Shri Radha & Shri Krishna marble deities

RadhaKrishna_marble_deities_Radhastami radha krishna deities on golden bases in pink radhastami outfits covered in flowering pink flowers and buds with diamond sparkling accessories

The worship of Shri Radha Krishna is capable of moving us to the highest transcendental platform of love for Krishna.

About Shrimate Radharani

“Radha is parama-devata, the supreme goddess, and She is worshipable for everyone. She is the protectress of all, and She is the mother of the entire universe.”

Chaitanya Caritamrta

The love that Radharani is having for Krishna cannot be separated from the love she has for all the children of Krishna. As the mother she loves all of the children of Krishna. So when we approach Radharani we have to understand that more than anything else, she wants me to be happy loving Krishna. She wants to introduce me to Krishna and make it so that I can be actually having Krishna so that I can be happy.

Quote from https://wisdom.yoga/srimati-radharani/ – a wonderful article “Who is Radha”

Finally I have been working on a marble deity of Shri Radha, accompanied of course by a magnificent murti of Shri Krishna – whom I have lots of experience dressing and painting and decorating.

This experience is like none other! Shri Radha and Shri Krishna together are so captivatingly lovely and beautiful that I can spend months working on single elements and get totally lost in their decorative details for Shringar.

When I worked with a sculptor to create their forms, I envisioned them being very opulent, and so we designed some gorgeous golden marble bases which raise their height and establish beauty. They are shaped a little inspired by the special carved pillars which you find in India beside the ghats, and by mother Ganga.

For their worship which should be wonderfully dazzling, I am making special couture shringar sets – fully equipped with luscious outfits, jewellery, and crowns.

Pink for Radhastami is the first outfit which I have created – the first of seven is the plan!

For Radhastami pink shringar I have created for the Radha Krishna deities a gorgeous pink skirt, fitted blouse, sheer dupatta, separate silken veil, all studded with diamond work and then ornamental flowery crown with chandrika in sparkling diamonds and flower buds. Matching flower garlands and flowery wristlets decorate hands and necks. A sparkling belt with diamond and pearl details swoops gracefully from her waist.

Matching shri Radha in opulence is our dear sweet Krishna – His outfit has a charming pink loose pant with overlaid darker pink dhoti, and a three fall pleat dazzling bedecked with pink crystals and swathes of gold. His chest is ornamented with a fitted vest, and thrown across Krishna’s magnificent shoulders is a silk cape, bedecked with more dazzling pearl and gold ornamentation. Crowning His lustrous black locks is a pink pagri – a turban ornamented with glittering diamond chandrika and more sparkling dazzling diamonds and pearls. Festooned with flourishes of pink buds and sporting a playful peacock feather.

Ornaments in pearl, gold, and flowers decorate His chest, arms, waist, ankles and armlets. Rings gleam at His fingertips and both Shri Radha and Shri Krishna deities wear special gold and pearl swinging chandbali – bell shaped earrings with pearls dangling.

Enjoy Krsna’s pastimes

little krishna hiding in the tree eating butter and feeding it to the monkeys

Now the extra fun is enhanced by all the wonderful little things that best suit Him!

Did you know Krishna’s play lotus flower actually has a name?! (so does Radha’s!)
Sadasmera is the name of his toy lotus flower. Of course this means that you MUST have a lotus flower available for Him to hold and play with too…

I love to know all the special details

Krishna’s world is so full of love.

How To Live In Krishna’s World…

Krishna is very sweet. Krishna likes only good things. He likes things that are fun. He likes things that are beautiful.

The spiritual world, Krishna’s world, there is no ugliness, there is only beauty. There is no anxiety, there is only peace. There is no boredom, there is only fun. Krishna is, in other words, the Supreme Enjoyer.

There is no rejection, there is only love and acceptance. Everything that you can think of in this world that you don’t like is not there. Whatever is unattractive is not in the spiritual world. Because Krishna is all attractive, His world is also all attractive.
